Welcome to the Antenatal Education Cork Centre’s website, which is a great place for you to explore your options for birth, breastfeeding and parenting.
Antenatal Education Cork is the only centre of its kind in the city or county offering a range of both Antenatal Classes and Postnatal Classes and support which will help you to make the choices that are right for you and which will help you to sort through all the information available at this exciting time in your lives.

“The irony is that the management of time in labour in medical settings does not appear to take into account growing evidence about the effects of environment and women’s emotional responses to the physiology of childbirth with the result that the conditions designed to speed up labour for apparent safety reasons may actually slow its progress and create other forms of risk which remain overlooked.’
CURRENT & UPCOMING ANTENATAL CLASSES AT A GLANCE
Full Antenatal Course
6 week courses - couples course running for 6 weeks antenatally with a reunion postnatally, usually for 1st time parents but suitable for those who have not attended Cuidiú classes previously and are looking for a comprehensive course. Weekly on Wednesday evening 8 - 10pm - Next course starts August/September
Relax Stretch Breathe Exercise Class - weekly - gentle yoga based exercise that are great for keeping you toned and get you ready for birth, with some chat and some relaxations thrown in - Thursdays- Also for postnatal Mums.
Dance Exercise Class - weekly - learn how to do gentle belly dance, latin dance and african dance with some chat and affirmations for good measure - Wednesday evening 6 - 7.15 ongoing. Also for postnatal Mums!!

Complete personal support package also available for pregnancy and early postpartum. Includes 5 in-home visits, including prenatal education and assessment, 2-hour postpartum assessment, and three subsequent home visits, unlimited phone and email support. , 17t
BREASTFEEDING CLASS - Groups or private
Group classes will be held monthly on Monday Nights, 7 - 9pm (except Bank Holidays) €60
Private sessions available either in your home or at the centre for €100 per couple - 2 hrs - For availability - ring for appointment
SHARE YOUR EXPERIENCE OF FEEDING AND MEET OTHERS TO GET TIPS AND STRATEGIES - AND HAVE SEMI-PRIVATE CONSULTS
A Lactation consultant and Cuidiu Breastfeeding Counsellor will be in attendance to answer your questions and to advice you on the best course of action to take, whether this be making an appointment for a full referral to help you work through your difficulties or being referred to other health care providers or just to being referred to other support groups for ongoing help.
This is a way for you to assess what your needs are! Simple problems may be solved at these group meetings but more challenging issues may need more time. See http://www.cuidiucork.net/ Dates of Support Groups:
